Cacaxtla Tip Tours

Why will you love it?

  • You'll go at your own pace because it's a private tour.

  • Visit to the archaeological zone of Cacaxtla

  • Among its remains, the Great Base stands out, a large architectural complex of superimposed and attached structures that feature sophisticated mural paintings, unique in their kind.

  • You will get to know the city of Tlaxcala by visiting the Government Palace where the mural "Tlaxcala through the times and its contribution to Mexican identity" by the master Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin is located.

  • Discover the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Ocotlán, founded following the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the indigenous man Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541.

  • Optional visit to Val'Quirico, inspired by the European countryside, combined with the charm of traditional Mexican villages to create a space with a unique magic: A medieval corner in the heart of Mexico.

Your experience:

  • We depart from either your hotel or the Zócalo (main square) of Puebla. Our first stop will be Cacaxtla, where you will explore the ruins and pyramids that illustrate the long occupation and period of greatest splendor between 650 and 900 AD by the Olmec-Xicalanca peoples who inhabited the Cacaxtla region. Among its remains, the Great Platform stands out, a large architectural complex of superimposed and adjoining structures featuring sophisticated mural paintings, unique of their kind, in the areas known as the Temple of Venus, the Red Temple, the Battle Mural, and Portico A. Due to the need to protect these valuable paintings, a large roof of approximately 10,000 square meters was placed over the central section of the Great Platform in the 1980s.

  • The city of Tlaxcala boasts a rich cultural scene. In the historic center alone, there are 124 buildings of historical and architectural significance, dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries. One of the most emblematic is the Government Palace, home to the mural "Tlaxcala Through Time and Its Contribution to Mexican Identity" by the master artist Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin, who vividly depicts Tlaxcalan history. This mural is located next to the Plaza de la Constitución, a perfect 75-square-meter square where the city was laid out in 1525. You will also visit the Zócalo and the Portales.

  • Afterwards, we continued to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ocotlán, founded after the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the indigenous man Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541. It is considered one of the finest examples of 18th-century Baroque architecture, including the Virgin's Dressing Room, which is in the indigenous Baroque style.

  • Finally, you'll have the option to dine in Val'Quirico, a unique Mexican town with architecture inspired by the European countryside. You can choose from a wide variety of restaurants specializing in Mexican, Italian, Spanish, African, French, and international cuisine. You can also stroll through its streets and visit art galleries, cafes, ice cream shops, and artisan stores. Meals are not included. An additional $200 pesos will be charged for parking.
